Meet Greg Lassiter

Roofing Contractor & Founder of ShingleScience

Greg Lassiter is a licensed roofing contractor and the founder of ShingleScience. With over 22 years of experience in the roofing industry, Greg has worked on everything from modest residential shingle replacements to large-scale commercial flat roof installations. He started his career as an apprentice roofer, earned his contractor's license, and built a successful roofing company before pivoting to education and writing through ShingleScience. Greg is certified by GAF, Owens Corning, and CertainTeed, and he brings a contractor's practical perspective to every article. He lives in the Southeast, where storm season keeps his expertise — and his phone — ringing year-round.

About ShingleScience

Your roof is the single most expensive component of your home's exterior — and most people don't think about it until there's a stain on the ceiling. ShingleScience was founded by a contractor who got tired of seeing homeowners taken advantage of by storm-chasers and high-pressure sales tactics. We provide the honest, straightforward information you need to make smart roofing decisions.

Our Mission

A new roof can cost $10,000 to $30,000, and the wrong decision can cost you even more in water damage, mold remediation, and premature replacement. We want every homeowner to have the same knowledge a good contractor would give you — what to look for, what questions to ask, and how to tell the difference between a solid bid and a sales pitch.

What We Cover

  • Roofing installation guides and best practices
